The quality of staff is a major requirement for the operation of nuclear power plants (NPPs). Once reached, personnel quality must be maintained. NPPs use simulators for this purpose, which are only as good as the computer models. For specific tasks, such as boron dilution or condensation in the presence of inert gases, the computer models are not able to predict or simulate reality. In this case, NPP operators cannot train properly.

AREVA NP’s Thermal-hydraulic System Training for Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs) prepares new employees for work with critical systems of nuclear power plants.
The PKL loop has a 1:1-height scale and therefore operates very closely to original plant conditions. It is able to represent effects, which are not correctly covered by software codes. Training courses on the PKL loop close the training gap for power plant operators.
