It is difficult to identify the low flaw tolerance locations in nuclear power plant (NPP) systems.

AREVA NP’s Leak-before-break Analysis (LBBA) uses advanced numerical methods to find leading locations and to assess the propagation of uncertainties by means of probabilistic methods and margin estimation.
 The LBBA is based upon charpy V-notch impact and tensile testing for determination of critical crack size in ductile materials, sub-critical crack growth and leak rates.
