Over the years, concrete in power plants suffers from loss of material due to abrasion, freeze-thaw and corrosion. Cracks are formed due to settlement, fatigue, rebar corrosion, shrinkage and changes in the material properties caused by creep or alkali-silica reaction. If not detected in time, concrete damages often require expensive repairs.

This software evaluates the relevant degradation mechanisms for civil structures based on the stress factors like e.g. elevated temperatures, low temperatures, irradiation and aggressive environment. COMSY-CIVIL performs a degradation assessment, a prioritization of maintenance activities and the management of inspection results. It also provides predictions for the remaining service life of civil structures.
