The concepts are as individual as each plant

All utilities are facing the challenge of enhancing the efficiency of their plants. To achieve this, it must be assured that outage times and costs are reduced, plant availability is increased and technological improvements are made. At the same time, the high quality level and plant safety must be maintained – or even improved. AREVA NP is a strong and reliable partner to overcome these challenges.


In the focus: optimization of load cycling capabilities of operating nuclear power plants. Because they need to react quickly and flexibly towards the volatile power generation from renewable energy sources such as wind and sun.

AREVA NP considers the efficiency enhancement of nuclear power plants to be an integrated and systematic long-term process. For this purpose, we have pooled our know-how from the three regions Germany, France and the US and the experience gathered in countless projects: The teams rely on collectively developed methods, solution approaches and indicators for maintenance optimization.

We look at each plant in a unique way. In addition to the construction type, age, design etc., we also take into account unscheduled outages and maintenance periods which significantly affect a plant's efficiency. All these pieces of information are then merged into a single concept. Among others this concept aims to:

  • Optimize the standard maintenance procedures
  • Optimize the plant condition
  • Optimize the plant-spanning cooperation
  • Optimize the maintenance strategy
  • Increase the quality in the team.

If the focus is on actively implementing changes, we accompany the power plant operator. By combining our competencies in plant construction and maintenance with the plant know-how of the utilities, we identify and realize potential for optimization.
